The most crucial time to put quality nutrition into your body is the first 30 minutes after completing your run. My #1 recommendation is to mix quality protein powder with water or milk (i.e. organic dairy, coconut, almond, rice).
Why do I prefer protein powder mixed with a liquid of your choice? Ease of absorption and digestion is the key. The body doesn’t have to spend as much energy and time breaking down powder & liquid compared to something more solid. The more readily available the “rebuilding materials”, the quicker our recovery happens!
When I say “quality” protein powder, I’m talking about protein that’s pure and refined as little as possible. Many brands add unnecessary fillers and sweeteners that severely dilute the quality. If you’re going to put it into your body, you want the most bang for your buck.
My recommendation for the best protein powder and what I currently use is Garden of Life.
I also love using my Blender Bottle. This allows me to take my protein powder to the gym or to the trail and be able to mix it with water to drink right after my workout.
